The new group pushing Democrats to talk about AI, Tomorrow Together, won’t push for Democrats to adopt specific policies on the issue, according to a representative for the group.

Tomorrow Together made headlines earlier this month in committing $10.6 million towards supporting Democrats through the 2026 election and beyond. The group is led by representatives from both the progressive and moderate factions of the party with former Director of Digital Strategy in the Biden White House Rob Flaherty and former spokesperson for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) Karthik Ganapathy co-founding the organization.

Lauren Hitt, a spokesperson for Tomorrow Together, told The Caucus that “they appreciate that the policy proposal that Democrats adopt will be as big as the tent of our party.”

“What they’re trying to do is help Democrats do is to start discussing this issue in a way that resonates with voters at all. Up until maybe the last week lots of folks had never really articulated any sort of central policy position regarding AI because it was new and it was fast moving and because there was an enormous amount of money on the other side,” Hitt said.

The principles that the group says it will adhere to revolve around the notions that voters should share in any prosperity that arises from developments in AI, that voters should have a say in how AI is deployed and that protections should be afforded for  the security of these tools, especially in relation to children.

The PAC’s formation comes at a time when hundreds of millions of dollars have already been deployed by pro-AI groups, which likely explains at least some of the hesitance from politicians to speak out on issues related to AI. According to Tech Influence Watch, a project of the tech journalism outfit Citation Needed, some $57 million has already been spent by AI related PACs across 27 states.

It also comes at a time when a bipartisan coalition of voters are becoming increasingly weary of the industry with at least 63% of voters saying that there is at least a moderate risk that AI will destroy humanity, according to a recent Politico Poll. The plurality of Americans, 48%, also said that AI’s development should be paused to reduce this risk, including 58% those who supported Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024 and 44% of those who supported President Donald Trump.

Tomorrow Together is set to intervene by pushing Democrats to address the topic more directly and by running ads in key races and conducting public opinion research on the issue. So far, the group has dedicated some $4 million to this midterm cycle, though they are anticipating more funding.

As it stands, it’s unclear exactly where the money is coming from. When asked, Hitt said that the money was sourced from a network of Democratic donors. The PAC is new enough that its funding is not yet disclosed through Federal Elections Commission filings.

The group is also launching a partner nonprofit, Tomorrow Together Action, which they say will focus on pushing “for policies that create shared prosperity, protect Americans from the worst harms, and give real people — not just rich guys — a voice in how AI is deployed.” Given its nonprofit status, the source of the funding for Tomorrow Together Action may never become public.
